Report of the third, fourth and fifth meetings of the Technical Advisory Group on Malaria Elimination and Certification (17 February, 26 May and 27-28 November 2023)

The Technical Advisory Group on Malaria Elimination and Certification (TAG-MEC) was established to advise WHO on malaria-free certification, malaria elimination and prevention of re-establishment. This report describes the proceedings and outcomes of three meetings held by the TAG-MEC in 2023, and particularly: the malaria-free certification of Belize and Cabo Verde; the advance draft of the global guidance on prevention of re-establishment and the proposed changes to the first edition of the framework for malaria elimination; the situation of malaria elimination at the global level; the issue of Plasmodium knowlesi. It is intended for the national programme managers, the ongoing development global guidance and the staff from ministries of health and other departments, partners and donors.
