MalariaGEN (data)

MalariaGEN is a global community of researchers using state-of-the-art tools and techniques to understand how genetic variation in humans, Plasmodium parasites, and Anopheles mosquitoes affects the transmission of malaria. It uses this knowledge to develop more effective ways to control the disease. MalariaGEN built a genomic data resource to answer questions on how genome variation in human, Plasmodium and Anopheles populations affects the biology and epidemiology of malaria. Genomic epidemiology is shedding light on the key molecular processes of the disease and informing public health decisions on how to control malaria. It works with researchers in malaria-endemic countries to generate large-scale genetic and genomic data on all three malaria genomes: human, parasite, and mosquito.

MalariaGEN data is open access and its curation allows different analyses from different locations to be linked and compared. Typically, data are released under specific Terms of Use or data release policies. Data users are asked to respect the contributions of their scientific colleagues and abide by the relevant terms of use, and always provide appropriate acknowledgment.
