Malaria Matters is a comprehensive course for healthcare practitioners. The course material takes the learner through the UKHSA publication ‘Guidelines for malaria Prevention in travellers from the UK’ in an interactive format. You will be able to watch videos including one of a consultation, learn important information through a variety of learning methods, involving some reading, engaging with case studies, exploring and appreciating the value of many useful resources and tools, and overall gain a far more in depth understanding of malaria prevention advice. The course intends to help you understand why is it so important to have such knowledge, thereby improving patient care. On initial testing of the course it was found to take students on average 6 hours to study.
The course comprises an introduction, 5 learning modules and a final assessment as follows:
- Introduction and navigation instructions
- Module 1: The global impact of malaria
- Module 2: Malaria and Plasmodium
- Module 3: The ABCD of malaria prevention
- Module 4: Malaria chemoprophylaxis
- Module 5: Pre travel special conditions
- Final assessment
