This learning programme focuses on diagnosing human infections through concise overviews. It emphasizes practical training with a virtual microscope for basic to advanced diagnostic exercises, while recognizing the need for hands-on experience with a real microscope and reference materials.

This training site provides access a comprehensive educational resource covering multiple parasitic diseases. For the purpose of this track, we are focusing specifically on malaria caused by all Plasmodium species. The site outlines the main parasitological techniques used to analyze samples. While these methods are described in brief, users are encouraged to consult WHO procedures or relevant textbooks for more in-depth guidance. Additionally, the platform introduces alternative diagnostic approaches, including antigen and antibody detection as well as molecular diagnostic tests, which are increasingly important due to their exceptional sensitivity. The site also offers interactive exercises related to malaria diagnostics and microscopy, enhancing practical learning and application.
