Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR)
Published: 07/08/2009
The Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) provides a menu of constructs arranged across 5 domains that can be used in a range of applications. It is a practical framework to help guide systematic assessment of potential barriers and facilitators. Knowing this information can help guide tailoring of implementation strategies and needed adaptations, and/or to explain outcomes.
The CFIR was originally published in 2009 and was updated in 2022 based on user feedback. It will be helpful for new users to read the 2009 article first; specifically Background, Methods, and Overview of the CFIR. Then read the 2022 Updated CFIR article.
