The Multilateral Initiative on Malaria (MIM) was established in 1997 with a mission to strengthen and sustain through collaborative research and training, the capacity of malaria-endemic countries in Africa to carry out research that is required to develop and improve tools for malaria control and to strengthen the research-control interphase.
MIM organized the 7th MIM Pan African Malaria Conference – Two decades of progress, challenges and perspectives in ending Malaria, which took place in Dakar, Senegal, from 15-20 April 2018. Researchers were invited to submit abstracts covering a wide range of topics, including parasite systems biology, epidemiology and modelling, drug resistance, drug efficacy, malaria in pregnancy, bioethics and legal issues to name but a few. The conference aimed to bring together scientists from different backgrounds and with varied interests, to encourage discussion of the latest findings in malaria research.
