Technological innovations for monitoring, vector control and etiological agents of malaria and dengue in the Amazon

For this project, essential oils (OEs) will be extracted from Amazonian Piper, analyzed by GC-MS and CG-FID and will be evaluated together with the nanoproducts against the etiological agents DENV, P. falciparum and P. vivax, as well as in the investigation of their cytotoxic effects on VERO and PBMC cells and ecotoxicity against non-target aquatic animals. Furthermore, the larvicidal potential of EOs, nanoproducts and Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti) will be evaluated under laboratory conditions, Aedes spp breeding grounds and Anopheles spp in Manaus, AM and Codó MA, after monitoring these breeding sites by georeferenced ovitraps quantifying the density of Aedes spp. Subsequently, the evaluation of the efficiency of the applied products will be carried out. The experiments carried out in the Aedes breeding grounds will be monitored by the local population, previously trained, as a method of disseminating knowledge for the control and collection of vectors, aiming at the early identification of the etiological agents, contributing to the reduction of the population of Aedes spp mosquitoes. and Anopheles spp. and reduced transmission of malaria and dengue in the Amazon. Thus, the applied methods will validate the products developed as technological alternatives for the monitoring and control of vectors and etiological agents of malaria and dengue in the Brazilian Amazon.
