President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) Digital Community Health Initiative (DCHI)
Objectives
PMI has partnered with Digital Square at PATH to engage national malaria programs and other key stakeholders with the following objectives:
- to understand the current digital environment; and
- to define country-specific priorities for using digital technology in community health programs.
To inform the initiative, PMI partnered with Digital Square at PATH to conduct a mixed-methods malaria and digital community health assessment to understand the community digital ecosystem in each country. Across the 27 partner countries, Digital Square reviewed 600+ documents, surveyed 270 respondents, and interviewed more than 300 national and subnational stakeholders (Phase 1). Each country hosted a participatory stakeholder workshop to validate results and identify recommended actions (Phase 2). Data was then analyzed across the 27 countries to identify cross-country trends, opportunities, and priorities. Results and recommendations have been organized by the people, governance, and systems components necessary to support CHW use of digital tools, and implementation of these prioritized recommendations will be the foundation work of Phase 3.
