PMC pilot implementation in DRC

Objectives

The aim of this project is to assess the operational feasibility, acceptability and cost of perennial malaria chemoprevention (PMC) and effectiveness in reducing clinical malaria in children under the age of two. 
Specific Objectives include:  

1. Through a co-design process, develop the optimal model of PMC implementation in the DRC, including number of touchpoints, timing and delivery channels of SP doses;
2. Estimate PMC coverage in eligible children 6-23 months of age in the intervention areas; 
3. Estimate the association between severe malaria and receipt of the last eligible dose of PMC in children 6-23 months of age; 
4. Assess changes in the incidence of clinical malaria in children under two years of age; 
5. Assess the operational feasibility, knowledge, ease of use and acceptability of PMC by health care providers; 
6. To assess the operational feasibility, knowledge, and acceptability of PMC by community members; and 
7. To estimate the cost of the intervention implementation and its cost-effectiveness.
