Investigating Malaria Entomological Indices and Insecticide Susceptibility status of Malaria vectors in Bulyanhulu Gold Mining site and its surrounding villages in Northern Tanzania

Malaria is a deadly disease that is transmitted by the bite of an infected mosquito. Tanzania is one of the countries in Africa that has been affected by Malaria. Due to mining activities, Bulyanhulu Gold Mining site and its surrounding villages are at high risk of malaria transmission. As part of efforts to combat this disease, Barrick Gold Mining has commissioned a study to investigate malaria Entomological Indices and Insecticide Susceptibility status of Malaria vectors in the area.

The study will also test the insecticides susceptibility status of the malaria-carrying mosquitoes in the area. This will help researchers to determine which types of insecticides are most effective in controlling these mosquitoes. 

The findings of this study will be critical in guiding the development of more effective malaria control measures in the Bulyanhulu Gold Mining site and surrounding villages, which could ultimately saves lives and improves the health of the local community surrounding the mining sites.
