Integration of epidemiological databases of chronic and infectious diseases using genomic analysis tools

Currently, large series of data are available continuously. Therefore, Big data approaches to biological data analysis has become indispensable. To the clinical and epidemiological information of diseases, such as mortality and even data socioeconomic factors, allow the exploration of several factors that influence a certain illness. In Brazil, epidemiological and socioeconomic data obtained in all states are managed by the Department of Informatics of the SUS (DATASUS). However, the cost computational and human resources involved in processing these data would be impracticable and inefficient. Genomic analysis tools are capable of working with billions of sequences and a large volume of data. For this, it will be necessary to convert individual data such as mortality, low birth weight, sex, type of delivery, disease transmission, co-infections and even socioeconomic data into DNA sequences. For database integration, sequence alignment methods will be used to identify the same individual in different databases without the need to duplicate or move information.  It is expected as a result an expansion of the resolution through the rapid tracking of the same individual in different databases, and also provide support for the development of public policies to optimize the Brazilian health systems.
