Implementation of RTS,S/AS01 in pilot comparator areas
Objectives
The objectives of this project are:
- To support the expansion of RTS,S vaccine deployment to the comparator areas in the three MVIP countries- Ghana, Malawi and Kenya using part of the donation doses available to the MVIP;
- To accelerate the expanded access to the malaria vaccine within Africa through the broader use in the MVIP pilot countries; and
- To generate additional lessons learned on the roll-out of the malaria vaccine in the pilot countries.

Rationale and Abstract
To support the expansion of RTS,S use into the comparison areas in the 3 MVIP pilot countries- Ghana, Malawi, Kenya as a means of accelerating acces to the vaccine in Africa and serving as bridge between the pilot implementation and the period of support through global vaccine access mechanisms through Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. The grant will support planning and implementation activities in the pilot areas not currently vaccinating with the RTS,S/AS01 malaria vaccine and will continue through the end of the MVIP in December 2023.
