Evaluation of process and impact of implementing district-based mosquito larviciding intervention for Malaria control in Tanzania
Objectives
IHI has been consulted with the Swiss TPH-TEMT Programme to conduct an evaluation of council-based mosquito larviciding supported by the Malaria Elimination in Tanzania (TEMT) project. The work will be currently implemented in three districts of the Tanga Region namely Handeni, Lushoto districts, and Tanga City Council.
The main areas of focus of the TEMT project include
- Vector control
- Malaria case management
- Surveillance, monitoring and evaluation
- Multi-sectoral engagement and
- Cross-border initiatives.
The main activities of the TEMT include:
- Advocacy, community mobilization, and engagement
- Training
- Mapping and characterization of breeding habitats
- Larvicide application
- Monitoring of breeding habitats dynamics, occupancy, and abundance of larvae and pupae
- Data analysis.
