Evaluation of autoantibodies and atypical B cells as hallmarks of asymptomatic P. vivax infections in the Peruvian Amazon: A search for asymptomatic malaria biomarkers
Objectives
This proposal aims to understand the physiopathology behind this trait by the evaluation of the presence of autoantibodies and atypical B cells and the assessment of these as biomarkers for differentiation of asymptomatic infections.

Assessment of the characteristics of asymptomatic P. vivax-infected individuals from the Peruvian Amazon shown the presence of low hemoglobin levels in these individuals, suggesting that asymptomatic P. vivax infections indeed affect the health of these silent parasite reservoirs. This proposal aims to understand the physiopathology behind this trait by the evaluation of the presence of autoantibodies and atypical B cells and the assessment of these as biomarkers for differentiation of asymptomatic infections. The results from this research will expand the knowledge of the asymptomatic condition in infectious diseases.
