Enhancing regional genomic surveillance of malaria for elimination planning
Objectives
The project aims to enhance regional genomic surveillance of malaria by sharing lab protocols and generating pilot data at a workshop, while building a cloud-based data-sharing platform for local and regional collaboration.
London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), United Kingdom
Lab protocol for genomic surveillance will be shared with partners at a workshop at MRCG.
•The MRCG genomics platform will be resourced with personnel and consumables to generate pilot data that will be shared with partners and the National Malaria Control Programs.
•The MRCG information centre and the data management are building a platform for data-sharing that
will be explored for local and regional data sharing. This platform will be cloud -based, and data updated will be accessible to all partners.
•The sequence data generated will be uploaded into open sequence data repositories such the European Nucleotide archive and the Short Read archive to the National Centre for Biotechnological information. These are universal open access. Links to the data generated and the platform will accompany all reports that will also be f reely accessible online.
•Approaches will be reported to the Pathogen Genomic initiative of the African Centre for Disease Control for continental sharing.
