Development of a new rotavirus-vectored oral malaria vaccine
Objectives
The objectives of this study are to:
- develop an orally administered multistage malaria vaccine loaded with multiple P. falciparum antigens using rotavirus as a vector;
- create an orally administered multistage vaccine utilizing rotavirus as a delivery vector;
- evaluate the immunogenicity and antimalarial effects of the developed vaccine—both its transmission-blocking and infection-protective capabilities—using culture and mouse models;
- assess the synergistic effects of the vaccine at multiple stages of malaria infection; and
- elucidate the mechanism of action underlying the vaccine’s protective and transmission-blocking effects.
