CAMIPATA: Climate Change and its Adverse Effects on the double burden of Malnutrition and Infectious Diseases among women of ReProductive Age in north-eastern Tanzania
Objectives
The objectives of this project are:
- To explore the relationship between maternal nutritional status and malaria infection, and if they synergistically have a detrimental impact on pregnancy outcomes and child development.
- To explore the effects of climate change on seasonal food availability at individual and community level and determine the seasonal variation in food intake and their influence on maternal health, pregnancy outcomes and child development.
- To explore in-depth community experiences and stressors related to food and health insecurity associated to climate change.
- To explore the local weather patterns and risk for climate-sensitive vector-borne diseases represented by malaria.
- To strengthen research capacity at institutions in the South, including south-south collaboration with a focus on qualitative, clinical, and nutritional research.
