The Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) Program is a long-standing initiative offering high-quality, comparable data on population and health worldwide.

The malaria section summarizes data collected through DHS surveys, covering the following Malaria Indicators:

  • Household possession of mosquito nets  
  • Use of mosquito nets by children  
  • Use of mosquito nets by women  
  • Prophylactic use of antimalarial drugs and use of IPT by women during pregnancy  
  • Prevalence and prompt treatment of children with fever  
  • Type and timing of antimalarial drugs taken by children with fever  
  • Availability at home of antimalarial drugs taken by children with fever
