ITN Campaign Assessment using Clustered Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (cLQAS)

Published: 06/06/2023

Maintaining high coverage of insecticide treated nets (ITNs) for populations in need is important to provide community-level protection from malaria vectors. Mass ITN distribution is a key strategy to achieve this. A comprehensive evaluation of the effectiveness of key campaign household registration and ITN distribution activities is critical to ensuring ensure the success of mass campaigns. Thus:

  • Cluster lot quality assurance sampling (cLQAS) offers an effective method to evaluate ITN coverage and the success of mass distribution campaigns.
  • This training will equip participants with the necessary knowledge and tools to conduct high-quality assessments for household registration and ITN distribution using cLQAS.

In this training we:

  • Review basic concepts of ITN campaign assessment.
  • Define when campaign assessment (in or end process) may be needed, including the objectives of data collection and plans for use of data.
  • Describe key indicators for HHR assessment and post campaign assessment.
  • Describe the approach to design for in or end-process monitoring surveys, including protocol and questionnaire development, sampling, and data analysis.
  • Describe the process involved in cLQAS and how to implement.
  • Support participants to provide assistance to countries to begin planning and budgeting for in and end process surveys for ITN mass campaigns.

The training is available in English and French and is delivered in two modules.
