Enhancing Community-level Surveillance to Ensure Quality Services & Sustainable Malaria Elimination I APMEN TechTalks
Published: 10/12/2024
As malaria programs across the Asia Pacific near elimination, effective surveillance at the community level becomes increasingly crucial to sustaining gains and preventing resurgence. Community-level surveillance captures critical data on disease trends, intervention impacts, and at-risk populations, guiding timely response efforts, policy planning, and resource allocation. However, as cases decline, routine surveillance systems face increasing limitations.
This TechTalks webinar explored current practices and tools used at the community level to maintain and improve malaria services to support elimination efforts. A panel discussion addressed challenges and gaps in routine surveillance and consider approaches to enhance or complement these systems, ensuring that community needs and service gaps are addressed—especially in settings where malaria cases are increasingly rare.
