The 16th edition of the masterclass hosted by Fredros Okumu from Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) and Sheila Ogoma from Clinton Health Access Initiative(CHAI) features Prof. Brian M Greenwood.

The conversation focuses on the long road to malaria elimination that began decades ago and is still going on. It compares the global progress in malaria case incidence and the global technical strategies milestones reached. The key concerns that has led to the stagnation of the malaria elmination process, what the focus should be for the next 5-10 years, the big questions and what we can do to reverse this trend are some of the topics discussed by Professor Brian Greenwood. The global technical strategy for malaria and its pillars are discussed, the need for surveillance and more data to better inform the decisions is highlighted. Also it is mentioned how the better use of existing malaria control strategies like ITNs and IRS not the introduction of any new tool necessarily has helped improve the malaria status in a lot of countries.
