Objectives

Original title in Portuguese: Saúde, pesquisa e cooperação internacional a partir de uma discussão sobre doenças endêmicas e epidemias (Malaria e Zika) Africa e Brasil. Reflexões sobre algumas discussões recentes e estudos de caso

This project intends to analyze international initiatives, and repercussions in some countries of the South (Brazil, South Africa and Mozambique), processes of innovation and production of local drugs to fight epidemic diseases.

Principal Investigators / Focal Persons

Rationale and Abstract

The discussion goes back to the 1990s until mid-2016, when the patterns of international cooperation with countries from the South changed profoundly, investigating the issue of generic drugs, which began to gain greater prominence in international scientific and technological policies. Identifying the relationship between drug production and cooperation with other countries as spaces for knowledge production, the project aims to investigate how local contexts, political and economic conjunctures create co-productive conditions based on local imaginaries, in the context of complex interdisciplinary scientific fields, that were constituted and have been modified, as paradigms, research patterns, technologies employed and perspectives of changes in the relationship between medicine, medicines and policies for the eradication of endemic and epidemic diseases have changed.
