Establishment of a diagnostic and treatment system for imported tropical diseases and rare parasitic diseases in Japan

This project will study artesunate for intravenous injection, which is effective against severe falciparum malaria, and optimize the High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis conditions for the active ingredient artesunate. An import route for artesunate injections will be established and prepare a research protocol. Intravenous quinine, pyrimethamine, and sulfadiazine are imported from overseas, managed by the National Center for Global Health and Medicine, and delivered to medical institutions participating as clinical research cooperating institutions to treat patients. For fasciculosis, an antibody test using the recombinant fluke antigen rCatL1-Fh will be used to diagnose fasciculosis, and a specific clinical study will be conducted using triclabendazole tablets. Promoting testing of rapid diagnostic kits for malaria, clinical sample analysis and epidemiological analysis of helminths and protozoa, and collecting and analyzing domestic and overseas epidemiological information.
