Evaluation of the IgG isotype profile in mice induced by immunization with Plasmodium vivax multi-antigen based formulations
Objectives
To evaluate the different proportion of subclasses of immunoglobulin (IgG) obtained through immunization with Plasmodium vivax multi-antigen based formulations.
Malaria is a disease that threatens public health on a global scale, and in this context, the Amazon region is strongly affected. Several articles describe the resistance of Anopheles mosquitoes to insecticides and drugs used for this disease, generating a global concern. In this scenery, the development of a vaccine against Plasmodium vivax has been considered an efficient alternative. However, despite of estimatives, there are challenges during the development of vaccines, such as high costs and this protozoan s complex cycle of life, comprising pre-erythrocytic and erythrocytic stages. Therefore, a protein composed by the association between Circumsporozoite Protein and Merozoite Surface Protein 1 (19 kDa C-terminal region) was used to immunize mice C57BL/6, aiming the production of antibodies in these animals to prevent cell invasions on the two stages of the protozoan’s life cycle.
