Busime Malaria Project
Objectives
The main goal of this project is malaria control, prevention and elimination.
And aims to provide:
- malaria sensitization at a village and household level,
- mosquito net distribution,
- and malaria screenings.
Prior to launch, 28 Village Health Trainers (VHTs) were trained on malaria screening with mRDTs, treating uncomplicated malaria cases, and providing referrals for all complicated malaria cases.

Study Design
Activities for this project include:
- Sensitisation talks to community members about malaria, its spread and prevention measures.
- Training community health workers (CHWs) and village health teams (VHTs) in screening.
- Long-lasting net distribution.
- Treating malaria uncomplicated cases in their villages, referrals and submission of weekly data to the health facilities.
