Gene drive for Malaria control
Published: 04/04/2017
Andrea Crisanti discusses his team’s laboratory work that has developed a revolutionary technology to spread genetic modifications from few laboratory mosquitoes to wild populations to eradicate malaria in the near future. Andrea Crisanti is a professor of molecular parasitology at Imperial College London and editor-in-chief of Pathogens and Global Health. He has carried out pioneering and visionary research that led to the development of molecular technology that can block the ability of mosquitoes to transmit malaria. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
