Geoprocessing applied to the study of malaria in Rondônia

Malaria is one of the most important parasitic diseases in the world, caused by protozoan of the genus Plasmodium. In Brazil, malaria is endemic in the Amazon region. A COVID-19 pandemic caused a reduction in surveillance related to other aggravations, including malaria surveillance. For the analyses, data will be used of the Malaria Epidemiological Surveillance Information System (SIVEP-Malaria), OpenDataSUS platform of DataSUS, Mortality Information System and Institute Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), as well as public data provided by Control of the Federal Government, responsible for detecting irregularities in transfers financial resources of public resources to the Ministry of Health to combat and prevent diseases. The study population will consist of all reported cases of malaria and confirmed in SIVEP-Malaria, in the period from 2004 to 2023. It is expected that the analyzes result in the identification of new sociodemographic and epidemiological profiles of cases of malaria in Rondônia, covering its spatial distribution, location of clusters of intensity of cases, envisioning the elaboration of risk maps for the implementation of effective public policies regarding the new post-pandemic scenario.
